Jose M. Ojeda, 86 born in Ciales, Puerto Rico to Juan Ojeda Otero and Carmen LaLuz Padilla died on February 22, 2023 in Naples, Florida
Jose was a kind, compassionate, loving son, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Preceded in death by his father Juan Ojeda Otero, mother Carmen LaLuz Padilla, and brother Edmundo Ojeda LaLuz. He is survived by his partner Judy Harrington, sister Maria Ojeda LaLuz, son Dennis Ojeda; daughter Diane Ferris (Ojeda); granddaughters Stephanie Ojeda, Kelly O'Malley (Ferris), Bailey Ferris; grandson Christopher Ojeda, and great granddaughters Ariel Beaman (Ojeda) and Kaleigh O'Malley ( Ferris Ojeda).
He moved to Chicago from Puerto Rico when he was eighteen years old. Without knowing English,he completed high school in Chicago, went on to receive his Bachelor's degree and continued his studies to a Master's degree. He worked as a quality control engineer/ manager and later taught business Spanish at Syracuse University. In his retirement, he consulted as a quality control engineer up into his 80's.The Spanish language, culture and food was often discussed and thoroughly enjoyed! Ballroom dancing was his favorite activity and he took every opportunity to enjoy it with his partner, Judy. He enjoyed traveling and his favorite destination was Seville, Spain. Over his later years, winters were enjoyed in Naples, Florida. The Florida sunshine made him feel good. Dad may the Perpetual Light shine upon you.
As our dad and grandfather, we enjoyed his laughter, his jokes and will forever miss his love, compassion, kindness and gentle soul. We are so grateful to have had you as our dad and grandpa. We love you dad.
