Jose Rafael Villanueva, age 74, of Elgin, IL, passed away on October 2, 2024. He was born March 18, 1950 in Aguadilla, PR to his loving parents, Carmelo Villanueva Galicia and Luisa Rosa Rodriguez.
Jose was a carpenter and cabinet maker, and an all-around handyman in his spare time. He and his wife, Leslie, were married 51 years, and together they raised four sons.
Jose was always a jokester and very sociable, ready to have a good time. He was extremely hardworking, never backing away from his responsibilities.
Jose enjoyed riding his bike around town, and jogging around the track at the Elgin recreation center. He loved visiting with friends and family.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sarita Ruiz. He is survived by his wife, Leslie W. Villanueva; sons, Rafael, Javier, Victor, and Daniel Villanueva; siblings, Jose Luis Villanueva, Carmelo Villanueva, Carmen Villanueva Perez, Rosa L. Rosa, and Angela Mendez; and grandchildren, Gianna, Celi, Lilly, Christian, Victor, Lorenzo, Selena, and David.
Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, and will continue from 11:00am until funeral service at 12:00pm, Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Fr. Robert Camacho will be officiating.
Interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120.
Final arrangements entrusted to Symonds-Madison Funeral Home. For more information, call 847-741-1128.
