BATTELL, Joseph L., of Arlington, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025. Born in Arlington he was a lifelong Arlington resident. Beloved son of the late James J. Battell, Sr. and Mary (Dynan) Battell. Dear brother of James of Arlington, Thomas of Dover, NH, Peter Battell of Arlington, the late Mary Desmond of Woburn, and the late John Battell. Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews, relatives and dear friends.

Young Joe learned how to turn a wrench from Dad, assisting around used car lot and deals from Acton auto auction. Joe loved cars, calling out makes and models on the road. Joe attended Arlington Vocational High School. Many jobs included mechanic; truck and bus driver, instructor at Arlex Driving School.

Joe enjoyed building a staircase at Auto Engineering, and towing break downs for Midnight Motors, photography, motorcycle Blue Knights, and trip to Bali, Indonesia.

Mechanically minded Joe had Ideas. When he could no longer walk 7 years ago, he designed a ramp, Joe bought a power wheelchair and wheel chair van with lift from Mobility Works, which gave him independence for years.

Determined to age at home, Joe had more ideas to adapt than were ever implemented. In his last few years, BILH@Home visiting nurses home help kept Joe healthy. Minuteman Senior Service helped.

Joe supported Boy's Town, he ain't heavy, he's my brother.

All Services are private at this time.
