Joseph "Bruin" Paul Buono, age 46 of Lapeer, passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2022. He was born in Lapeer on April 20, 1975. Joe Buono was a rare individual. He had an uncommon blend of intellect, courage, talent, compassion and a wonderful sense of humor.
As a professional counselor he worked with countless individuals and families through the years in Lapeer and Genesee counties. As a young professional he worked as a liaison for Lapeer County Sheriff's Department. He was also very involved in counseling through the church he attended. He was a Deacon at his church, and helped with many aspects of the churches daily operations. He was a dedicated servant.
He was an incredibly gifted musician and played several instruments, including keyboards, guitar, and the trumpet. He has performed as part of a local jazz band, and also played his trumpet at his church. He was also known to enjoy serenading a family cat or dog.
He loved his family. He considered himself to be a Momma's boy, and he had a very special love for her.
He loved his friends. He stayed in touch, and he was always ready to share a laugh, a tear, or offer a prayer.
He loved his Lord. Several years ago, he became a Christian. His relationship with Jesus profoundly impacted his life. One of his great desires, was that others would also receive salvation through Jesus Christ, especially his family, friends and loved ones. But, he was also concerned about anyone he crossed paths with.
He was a son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, counselor, musician, servant, and a child of God. He will be deeply missed.
Beautifully written by dear friend Dave Borck.
Joe is survived by his mother Carol (Richard Coutts) Buono; brother Frank (Gayle) Hardenburgh; step-sister Amy (Ralph) Grant; step-brothers Richie Coutts, Andy (Krista) Coutts and Ben (Lisa) Coutts; nieces and nephews, Frankie Hardenburgh, Nicole (Dan) Felton, Stephanie Johnson; Theresa (Andrew) Hargrove, Hannah Coutts, Matthew Coutts; great-nieces and great-nephews, Ayden Felton, Avery Felton, Gemma Johnson, Olivia Coutts, Jessica Grant, Harmony Hargrove, Jamie Coutts, and Isabella Coutts; special friends, Justin Tack, Jim Peas, Dr. John Downey, Dr, Zack Hillman, Wendy Murry and her daughters; the Coopers; also many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear church friends.
