Mr. Cook actually taught me Trigonometry, a task I thought was impossible. He was a very good teacher and beneath the gruff exterior, really cared about his students.

So sorry to hear that Joe Cook has passed away. He was my math teacher and somehow made the subject interesting to me. May his memory be a blessing. Leslie Berger, class of 1977

So sorry to see that Mr. Cook passed away. He was my homeroom teacher as well as my math teacher at Sharon High back in the early 80s. He was a great guy and his passion for golf was well-known. If we weren't in the mood to study math in class, all we had to do was mention golf and Mr. Cook was off and running. May he Rest In Peace. My deepest condolences to his family.

I was saddened to learn of Joe's passing. He and I spent many days playing golf, with Murray, Cookie, enjoying each other's company. He was a gentle person whom I will always remember.

Joe and I played on the same intramural basketball team while he attended Northeastern. Later he would join the faculty at Sharon High School where I was teaching. We called him "gunner" because he never saw a shot he didn't like for himself. He enjoyed the game of life always giving it his best shot.

Joe was very proud of his teaching career. Golf was his first love but teaching was a close second

I had the pleasure of being a colleague of Joe' foe 30+years. In that time we served ont the STA negotiating as well as several other committees and as
faculty member at SHS. One lasting memory that I have is observing Joe's math class,a rewarding and enlightling experience. Joe had much respect for his students' abilities. Instead of being the center of attention he let the students work cooperatingly to solve complex math problems, he guided, asked questions and only when completely stumped did he begin his explanation of the problem's solution. He was a great golfer but more importantly, a gifted educator. When someone comments of knowing a great teacher, I will think of Joe Cooke

Sandy & Family of Joe: He was truly a man of character. A kind and thoughtful person. He was a most amazing warrior with a heart that knew no limits. May memories of happier times help to ease these challenging days. He touched the lives of those fortunate to know him. Heartfelt thoughts. Ted & Ellen Warzecha

I am so sorry to hear of Joe's untimely death. It saddens me greatly as I truly enjoyed teaching and working with Joe at Sharon High School. I respected his opinions about teaching and respected the work that he did for the Sharon Teachers Union. I also was very lucky to have had my daughter Stacey in his math classes and I remember her saying that he was a "great" teacher and one of her best. Of course it might have been because she always said he taught her the odds of betting and as a result is pretty good at blackjack! May Joe find eternal peace forever.Amen
