Joseph Dougherty Obituary

Joseph John "Jody" Dougherty III, 62, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the Dove House in Westminster, Maryland. Jody was born on February 27, 1963 in Takoma Park, Maryland, and grew up in Mount Airy Maryland. Jody was the beloved son of Nancy Dougherty and Joseph Dougherty Jr. He resided in Stevensville, MD where he shared his life with his wife, Jane Dougherty. He was a loving father to Crystal Begly (husband, Joseph), Jennifer Vona (husband, Daniel), and Joseph M. Dougherty (wife Rachel). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Shane, Eryk, Hannah, Nicholas, Jonathan, Oliver, Owen, Ethan, Benjamin, and Aaron and his three great-grandchildren. He is also fondly remembered by his sister Barbara Bennett and her husband Bob, as well as his niece Jamie Colson, nephew Dennis Colson, and his extended family and friends.

Jody loved his family deeply, and enjoyed spending time with them at family gatherings. He had a long career as an autobody technician and enjoyed restoring vehicles. He had many lifelong passions that reflected his love for the outdoors, such as hunting and fishing. Jody felt most at peace near the water.

Family will hold a private service.

Jody will be deeply missed. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
