Joseph Ferreira Sr.

Joseph Ferreira Sr., 89, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025 at the Kent County Hospital. He was a resident of Warwick for 26 years. He was the dear husband and best friend of Jean (Everton) Ferreira, sharing 42 loving years of marriage together. Born in Fall River, he was the second oldest of eight children born to the late Mary (Mello) Ferreira and Manuel Ferreira Sr.
Joe was driven by curiosity, and enjoyed travelling throughout the U.S. during his time working at United Supply for many years. He was hard-working and dedicated, later working for Enterprise Car Rentals until his retirement at age 80.
Joe always found a new hobby to keep his hands and mind busy, from working on his classic cars to caring for his house and yard. He enjoyed all things NASCAR, and could often be found at the Seekonk Speedway and local car shows. He took special pride in his Corvette, IROCs, and Monte Carlos over the years. He had a special fondness for Old Western Movies and loved all music.
Above all, Joe had a strong love for his family and the home they created together. He passed along his sharp pool skills to his grandkids, and they attended many baseball, football, and hockey games together. He was a wonderful cook, renowned for his Portuguese soup.
Joe was the loving father of Joseph Ferreira Jr., of Cranston, RI, Mark Ferreira of West Warwick, RI, Jeff Ferreira of Smithfield, Sharon Silvia of Cranston, RI, and Sherrie Lambert of West Warwick, RI. He was dedicated to his 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. His special "grand-dog" Jackson James was never far from his side. He was the brother of John Ferreira of West Warwick, Dennis Ferreira of Arizona, Connie Dzierzanowshi of New York, Irene Violette of Tennessee, Mary Lou Otey of Ohio, and the late Manuel Ferreira Jr. and Anna Shears. He was cherished by his many nieces and nephews.
