Joseph F. Flanagan, 87, of Titusville, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Advent Health in Sebring, FL.
Joe was born April 10, 1937, in Titusville to the late John F. and Mary Smith Flanagan. He married Sylvia Murphy on June 10, 1961, in Pleasantville. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2022.
He attended Titusville Schools and proudly served in the United States Army. He entered the service on September 15, 1954, in Pittsburgh and was honorably discharged on September 13, 1957, at Fort Sill with the rank of Sergeant.
Joe initially worked for Gilbert Bigley at Keystone Motors and later at Dailey & Kocan Chevrolet & Oldsmobile. In 1970, he founded Joe's Reconditioning in his home garage, where he operated for over 40 years, servicing numerous cars in Titusville and the surrounding area.
He attended the Titusville Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Starting in 1998, Joe enjoyed going to Florida for the winter months with his wife and meticulously maintained his lawn and garden in both Florida and Pennsylvania.
He is survived by two daughters, Cindy Phillips and husband Stephen Feltenberger of Titusville, and Susan Wentz and husband Kerry of Guys Mills; a son, Jamie Flanagan and wife Anna of Erie; five grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips, Mariah Flanagan, Maggie Flanagan, Kamron Wentz and Kyleigh Wentz.
Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Tom Flanagan; and his sister Mary Miller.
Visitation will be held at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. a funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Scott Bennett, officiating.
Interment will be at Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Community Bible Church 1400 County Rd 17A N # 82, Avon Park, FL 33825.
