Joseph Gioia Obituary
Joseph Gioia was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 17th, 1949 to Joseph and Mary Gioia. Although he was a city kid, he always loved the country. When he met his wife, Danielle, in 1971 they packed up and headed north to Maine to begin their married life there.
There they bought a piece of land in the back woods where Joe built a small cabin for them. In 1976 they had their first child, Matthew and two years later another son, William, was born.
Through a series of events and encounters, that could only be God inspired, they decided to attend a small Assembly of God church in a neighboring town. There they both accepted the Lord and dedicated their lives to serving Him.
They moved to town and Joe began studying for the ministry at Berean School of the Bible while working and raising a family. He was active in the church being a youth pastor, Sunday school teacher and in Nursing home ministry.
After a few years, he felt called to pastor so the family moved up north to the town of Guilford where he pastored Guilford Assembly of God church for twenty five years.
Joe was a hard worker; he ministered and also held down a secular job to support the family.
Joe loved the outdoors and camped, hunted and fished whenever he got a chance.
In 2010, at the urging of their son, Bill, Joe and Danielle packed up and drove cross country in an old Chevy Impala to Colorado to be near their sons and grandkids.
Joe and Danielle found a church home at The Healing Place in Brighton where Joe got the opportunity to minister which was the desire of his heart.
His health started to fail in 2022 but he kept going until he couldn't minister any more. He was strong in the Lord until the very end and passed peacefully.
He is survived by his wife, Danielle, two sons, Matt and Bill, two daughters-in-law, Dawn and Jessica, and eight grandchildren, Poppy, Racquel, Dominic, Giana, Jack, Isaiah, Evander and Ethan.
He is preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Marie.
