Joseph "Joe" Clarence Habel 1952-2025 Joe left us from the comfort of his home on November 15, 2025, to go on an eternal fishing trip. He was born in Lakewood, New Jersey, on December 10, 1952, to Clarence and Joan Habel. After a childhood spent in Massachusetts, Joe joined the Navy in 1971. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon discharge and a move to Vermont, Joe met Sharon Currier, and they entered into a lifelong partnership on December 31, 1978. Joe and Sharon were officially married on May 19, 1984. They spent many of the following years laughing, camping, enjoying the company of good friends, and raising not one but 2 sets of children together: their daughters, Amanda and Tracey, as well as their grandchildren, Jeremy and Brittany. Joe had a sense of humor that filled our lives with sarcastic wit and unending dad jokes. He had a passion for swapping and trading things, especially those with a motor and four wheels. Joe also loved to fish. And that encompassed all types of fishing, especially time spent with his good friend Bubba, who predeceased him. Our family knows they are currently out in search of the big one. "Fish on " as Joe would say. Joe was a walking road map of New England and often would have his family hop in the car and set out with no particular destination in mind, getting us all lost along the way while knowing exactly where he was. We all have fond memories of those excursions. Joe worked in a number of occupations along the way, but always had a job using his hands. He was a mechanic, a master plumber, and finished his career in plant maintenance at Cabot Creamery. Joe is a loved man who will be greatly missed by all who survive him. His loving wife, Sharon. His daughters, Amanda and Tracey. His grandchildren, Aliza, Jeremy, Brittany, Travis, and Virginia. His great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Griffin. He is also survived by his sisters Pat and Kathy. Along with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Keith and Marion. As well as nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Joan, as well as his in-laws, Winfield and Jo Ann. Along with his brother-in-law, Gerald. In memory of Joe, share a joke with your family and friends. He would really get a kick out of it.
