Richard Gary Hall, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 66 years old.
Born on February 13, 1959, to Freeman and Esther Hall, Richard grew up in Northfield, Vermont, and graduated from Northfield High School with the Class of 1978.
In 1976, Richard met the love of his life, Jayne. The two were married on October 14, 1978, beginning a remarkable journey that spanned 47 years of devoted marriage. Together, they raised three children: Jeremy Hall (Erin), Joshua Hall, and Sarah Hall, and were blessed with seven cherished grandchildren: Faith, Kayce, Madison, Lucas, Ethan, Garrett, and Madyson.
Richard dedicated his entire career to the granite industry in Barre, Vermont. He spent many years at Rouleau Granite before retiring from Rock of Ages after 35 years of loyal service.
Family was at the center of Richard's life. He especially loved spending time at Lake Carmi, where he and Jayne fulfilled their dream of owning a lakeside home. He took great joy in teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish, sharing laughter, stories, and life lessons along the water's edge. He also treasured time spent hunting at the Hall's Happy Hideaway, the family deer camp in Northfield, where traditions and memories were passed down through generations.
Richard had an unmatched love for the holiday season, especially Christmas. Whether he was decorating the house with his family or whistling and singing along to holiday tunes year-round, his joy was infectious. Known for his warm heart, big smile, and legendary hugs, Richard never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jayne; his children and their families; and his siblings Bonnie Burness (Mike), Kathy Waters, and James Hall (Nancy). He is also survived by his in-laws, Robert Freeman (Theresa), Susan Boyd (Greg), Carol Edwards, Amy Hall, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Freeman and Esther Hall; his brother David Hall; and his brother-in-law Terry Edwards.
Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Kingston Funeral Home will be assisting on behalf of the family. A service celebrating Richard's life will be held at Northfield Methodist Church on October 25, 2025, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Richard by sharing a kind deed, a warm smile, or a helping hand with someone in need, just as he so often did. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Richard, please visit our floral store.

So blessed to have him be apart of our baby shower just before his passing. I´ll never forget his infectious laugh and general upbeat demeanor. He was such a joy and will be dearly missed.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Dickie was such a funny guy and I remember he was a big part of my high school memories for class of 78! A kind soul gone too soon. I am leaving for Fl before the services or I'd be there to support the family and friends. Hugs to you Jane kand family. (Maiden name Pape)
