Raymond Arnold Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Raymond E. Arnold, 66, of Northfield, Vermont, passed away suddenly on August 29, 2025. Raymond was born to Richard F. Arnold and Rosemary J. Smith of Northfield, Vermont, on April 10, 1959, in Freeport, New York. Raymond's family moved to Northfield, Vermont, in 1968. Raymond graduated from Northfield High School in 1977. After high school, Raymond joined the US Marine Corps (USMC). Following the USMC, Raymond started his career working as a mason for his father, Richard. Eventually, Raymond started his own successful masonry business. He was very creative, talented, and took great pride in his work. Raymond married Donna Stetson of Woodstock on June 3, 1984, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Northfield, Vermont. They started their lives together in East Corinth, VT, with their beloved Dobermans, Nessie and Max. Together, they began Arnold and Arnold Masonry, which they continued until recently. Raymond was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a big fan of NFL football, rooting for the Chicago Bears. Raymond and Donna loved the sun and travelled to Florida to avoid the cold Vermont winters. In Florida, one of Raymond's favorite activities was attending NASCAR races. Raymond's smile could light up a room, and he always made you feel special. He will be missed by his loving family and many good friends. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Donna Arnold of Northfield, VT, and his two brothers, Ian Arnold and his wife, Pam, of Alna, Maine, and Bryan Arnold and his wife, Lori, of Bomoseen, VT. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Barbara Chamberlin, sister-in-law Lynne Stetson, and beloved nephews and nieces. Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Richard F. Arnold and Rosemary Smith, and his older brother, Richard M. Arnold. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Raymond to the Sorrell Maynard American Legion Post 63, Northfield, VT. Raymond will be laid to rest at the Vermont Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT. A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date.
