Joseph “Joe” Hooper Hensley, Sr. passed away on June 3, 2024, in Goodlettsville, TN. Born on February 7, 1952, in Nashville, TN.
Preceded in death by his brother David Hensley, parents Ben and Floy Hensley.
Survived by his devoted and loving wife of 40 years Karol Hensley; sister in law Kathy Karnes; children Jody (Ivy) Hensley, Rachel Freeman; grandchildren Orion Hensley, Sonny Hensley; 1 great granddaughter; sisters Diane Kerr, Elaine Hensley as well as numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
After graduating from Overton High School in 1970, Joe embarked on a fulfilling career path that led him to work at AVCO- Textron in the IT department and later at Vanderbilt Medical Center in plant services.
Beyond the workplace, Joe had a laidback and easygoing personality. He found joy in the simple things in life - from listening to music to tending to his yard and cutting the grass with precision. He had a passion for NASCAR and was a big UT football fan. Joe also had a knack for both exterior and interior painting. A true handyman, he could fix anything that came his way.
Among his many hobbies and interests, one stood out above all - his love for his wife Karol. Together they shared 40 years of love and companionship since their marriage on January 7, 1984. Joe cherished every moment spent with Karol, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Joe's love extended not only to his family but also to his animals Sadie and Penny, his cherished wennie dogs who brought him endless happiness.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 9:30am ~ 11:30am with a Celebration of Life at 11:30am and the burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers charitable donations can be made in Joe’s name to the Humane Society of Sumner County.
