Joseph F. Hilliman

Joseph Francis Hilliman, 56, of Hartford, CT, son of the late Samuel A. Hilliman and Georgia Etta (Griffin) Hilliman, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025. Born in Hartford and was a graduate of Newington High School, CT. Joseph went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design from Southern Connecticut State University. He had an exceptional career in graphic design for many years doing what he had a strong passion for. He loved to teach and was an Adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut. Joseph was currently employed by Travelers as Design Director prior to his death.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son Elijah Hilliman, daughters Angelica Hilliman and Charity Hilliman; and the love of his life fiancé Eva Selirova, and her two children Joseph Yuranick and Sawyer Yuranick. His deep love and devotion to family was immeasurable and he will be sorely missed.
Joseph, affectionately nicknamed by his siblings and referred to as "Joey Joe" is survived by his brothers Bishop, Adom Hilliman and wife Patrisha, Robert Hilliman, Samuel Hilliman Jr. and wife Jacqueline, and sisters Teresa Hilliman, Mary (Hilliman) Nixon and husband Richard, Carmen Hilliman, Elsa (Hilliman) Gaines, Debbie Johnson and husband Eric, Matilda (Hilliman) Hayes, and predeceased siblings sisters Georgiana (Hilliman) Harrison, Moneka (Hilliman) Wright, and brothers LeRoy Wilson and Sylvester Wilson. He also leaves behind a large extended family throughout the United States, Guyana, and South Korea, and nieces and nephews whom he loved spending time with.
Though Joseph has departed this earthly life, his legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him. We will miss his contagious laughter, quick witted humor, and that smiling face that lights up a room. He was a very special and lovable man, taken from us too soon.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am. with the Celebration of Life Service held at 11:00am at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Road, Windsor. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT.
