Lois Fay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home on Dec. 12, 2025.
Lois Chamberland Fay passed away at home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She was the beloved wife for 53 years to Peter E. Fay.
Lois was born in Hartford, CT on February 21, 1947, to the late Raymond and Lois (Robinson) Chamberland. She was a member of the first graduating class at East Catholic High in 1965, then graduated from Cardinal Cushing College in Chestnut Hill, MA and began a teaching career. She taught elementary school on and off for a number of years.
She married Peter in 1971 and began moving from place to place as a proud supporter of his career. They lived in New Hampshire, Atlanta, Nashville, St. Louis and several communities in the greater Boston area, finally settling in Suffield, CT where they both retired.
Lois' middle name could have been "Creative". Sewing, decorating, painting any and all surfaces as well as her special sense of humor were all gifts. In her own words "decorating is my autobiography". She was an avid baker and was relied upon to provide sweets for every gathering she attended. She was also a practitioner of the "Lost Art" of letter writing. Never one for texting, she preferred to send handwritten letters to special friends for any and all occasions.
In addition to her husband, Peter, she is survived by son Gage Fay, his wife April, of Windsor, CT, daughter Maigret Fay, her husband Nicholas Thiltgen of Burlington, VT, and son Trevor Fay of Gainesville, FL, and her much loved (and doted on) grandson, Bode Thiltgen. Lois is also survived by brothers Kevin Chamberland of Hartford, CT, Raymond Chamberland of Jackson, WY, and her sister, Elaine Klimas of South Windsor, CT. In addition, she will be dearly missed by numerous lifelong friends, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home located at 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield, CT 06078 on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 2-3 pm with Memorial Service to follow.

Yesterday

Our sincere condolences to our dear Peter and his family. Lois was by far the best neighbor we have ever had. Her kindness, thoughtfulness and all the fun times together will forever be in our hearts memories. You know how much we loved all the delicious baked good she would share with us. We will greatly miss our little Lolo. Sending prayers and hugs. Love, Evelyn and Eamon.
