Joesph Michael "Joe" Hoffman, age 71, unexpectedly passed away at his home on November 28, 2023. Joe was born on July 14, 1952, to James and Clarice (Thurk) Hoffman of Mayville, Wisconsin and graduated from Mayville High School in 1971. After high school, he moved to Maiden Lake in Mountain, Wisconsin near his grandparents George and Lolita Kellner. There he met the love of his life, Suzanne Aerts, whom he married December 6, 1985. Four years later on October 8, 1989, they welcomed their only daughter, Lauren Hoffman into the world. Those that knew Joe would say he was a hard worker and busy body. He was employed at Northeast Asphalt as a paver operator for over 40 years. After retirement from Northeast, he drove truck for St. Louis Trucking and Concrete during the summer and plowed snow for Hoffman Landscaping during the winter. The work didn't stop there Joe took great pride in keeping his home and yard in tip top shape and made sure the outdoor animals were taken care of.
When the work was all done Joe lived life to the fullest. He loved the outdoors, hunting, grilling (no matter the weather), sitting by the bonfire and having fish fries with the family. Joe was an avid fisherman traveling to Minnesota for pan fish and muskies. He was also a dedicated snowmobiler, trailering and riding trails all over northern Wisconsin. Joe's favorite activity however was spending time with his daughter, Lauren, who he loved deeply.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Lauren Hoffman; sisters, Diane (Brian) Sindahl and Janet (Steve) Luebke; nieces and nephew, Jennifer (Jeff) Ewing, Jessica Butler, Clarie Luebke and Nicholas Luebke; great nieces and nephews, Nathan, Ted, Lilly, Austin and Colton; and his sidekick, 24/7 fur buddy, Ziggy.
Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife, Suzie; parents, James and Clarice; grandparents; and nephew, Brayden.
Swedberg Funeral Home of Shawano is handling pending services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
