Joseph M. Lunt, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Loretta "Lori" (Eldridge) Lunt and the son of the late Maynard and Catherine (Sweeney) Lunt.
Born in Boston on June 27, 1950, Joseph was a graduate of St. William School in Dorchester. He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he spent 32 years working as a letter handler for the United States Postal Service.
Joseph had made Plymouth his home for the last 45 years. He was a loyal and seasoned New England Patriots fan, an enthusiastic golfer, and enjoyed trips to local casinos. Above all, he cherished time spent socializing with friends and family.
In addition to his beloved wife, Lori, Joseph is survived by his children: Marianne Spillane and her husband Kevin of Bourne; Alison Waldron and her husband John of Plymouth; Melissa Johnson and her husband Kevin of Florida; and Lindsay Van Kauwenberg of Marshfield. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Zachary, Kyle, Ava, Bella, Sadie, and Gigi. Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings Marilyn Felton, Phyllis Dudley, Catherine Fisher, Edward Lunt, and Stephen Lunt.
Visitation will be held for the Lunt family on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Cartmell–Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Road, Plymouth (Manomet), followed by a brief blessing at 12:00PM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Three Harts Farm, 232 Beaver Dam Road, Plymouth, MA 02360.
