Joseph A. Ricci Jr.

Joseph A. Ricci Jr., age 78, died peacefully after a period of declining health. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen. Joe was the loving son of the late Joseph and Mary (Gaultier) Ricci Sr. and grew up in Stoughton.
He attended Stoughton High School and joined the US Navy in 1967. Joe married his high school sweetheart Karen Allen and shortly after his Navy service commitment ended in 1973, they built a house in East Bridgewater. Joe was an active Dad who loved teaching his boys to build and fix things. He worked for over 30 years for Grossman's in Braintree until their closing in the 90's. He then worked for D'Angelo's as their primary diesel mechanic for many years.
When Joe wasn't working he loved spending time on his boat the "Special K" and helping his friends with their boat issues. He was a longtime and well liked member of the Mill Wharf Yacht Club in Scituate. Being a great mechanic had its pitfalls as he would never say no to helping someone. He spent countless hours with family, friends, and sometimes strangers fixing, repairing, and rebuilding automobile and marine engines. He loved cars and had a garage in Easton for many years where he would always tinker with whatever vehicle he owned at the time. His favorite vehicles were old wagons, his own van, and the 1965 Mercury Parklane.
Joe was most comfortable when he was home in his yard riding around in his golf cart listening to the oldies, smoking a cigar and having some scotch making sure things were immaculate. He loved keeping a neat and orderly yard, shop, and home. Despite being slightly stubborn and at times thick headed, he was the most loving and kind man you ever met. He loved his family and being with his grandchildren meant the world to him.
Joe was the loving father of Matthew J. Ricci and his wife Amy of RI, Joseph C. Ricci Sr. and his wife Diana of Bridgewater. Loving grandfather ("Puppy") of Joseph Jr., Nick, Ashlie, Adrianna, Milannia, Matthew, and Nicole.
All are cordially invited to the Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater for a wake on Wed. June 21st, from 4-7pm. Funeral procession gathering at 9am on Thursday, June 22nd at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John's Church, 210 Central St East Bridgewater at 10am. Burial will be held at Central Cemetery.
