Joseph was survived by his Mother, Susan Mazzullo; his Stepfather, Doug Mazzullo; and his Father, Steven Surina; his two brothers, John Surina and Michael Surina; and his two sisters, Theresa Surina and Sophia Surina.

Joseph Surina had a real passion for cooking, living his life in the pursuit to better his craft. Joseph worked as a chef in multiple chain restaurants as well as a Michelin star restaurant. Additionally, Joseph was an accomplished dancer, nature enthusiast, and a great agriculturalist. He often spent much of his free time outdoors enjoying the company of wildlife and cultivating a wide variety of plants.

Joseph was a strong, loving, and forgiving man. His childlike spirit always seemed to light up a room and give a little more joy. Throughout all his hardships, he never gave into bitterness and always wore a smile on his face. He valued his family and friends above all else. He wanted nothing more than to bring a little more happiness into this world.
