I had a class or two with Mr. Weaver at ACC back in the late 1970´s. Which I enjoyed very much. Over these many years I have had thoughts about him with a smile on my face

Joe and I were colleagues, and I spent many wonderful hours in debate and banter with him and Carolyn at their home. I shared Joe's interests in national politics, local history and genealogy, and we often attended out-of-town conferences together. One time we drove from Cumberland to Baltimore only to learn that the lecture we expected to attend had been cancelled. Joe had a heroic streak, too, and once when a distracted student walked into a set of glass doors and there was blood everywhere, Joe went into action instantly, wrapping the bloody student in his own suitcoat while I just stood there gaping! Joe had a distinguished teaching career at Allegany College with many students who were inspired by his lectures, and I was always proud to stand alongside him.
