Joe was born in Cincinnati to Elmer and Margaret (nee Brokamp) Wicker and has lived most of his life in Anderson Township. He met his wife Charlene on a blind date and they were very happily married for 47 years.
A lifelong learner, he graduated with a BA from Xavier University, an MA from the Athenaeum and an MA from the University of Dayton. He attended Fordham University and then Wright State University where he earned a Doctorate in Psychology. He was in private practice until he retired in 2010. Joe was a voracious reader, finishing two to three books each week. He had many other hobbies over the years. Joe spent many summers at the family camp on the Ohio River. A River Rat, Joe had boats for many years and he and his wife were members of Ohio River Launch Club. Lately, though they traded in boats for a Corvette and belong to the Fort Thomas Corvette Club. His other hobbies included golf (with the Good Guys golf group), guitars, bonsai and other plants, shooting with the Miami Pistol and Rifle Club, where he helped with the Junior Rifle Program. He also spent many years as a tactics and shooting instructor with TDI. Joe and his wife made many lasting friendships as a result of their involvement in these organizations. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling that included yearly trips to Lake Eire and Orange Beach.
Joe had been recovering from recent surgery, but unfortunately passed away suddenly at home. He will be missed.
