Joseph Francis Winn, of Marshfield, died Wednesday, October 16 surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old.
Joe was born in Somerville on November 13, 1941. He was a graduate of Arlington High School and Northeastern University. Joe worked for many years at the Boston Globe before starting his own advertising company, Fieldstone Publishing.
Joe married Catherine (Locke) Winn in 1969. After a few years in Arlington, they settled in Marshfield where they lovingly raised their family. Joe particularly enjoyed tending his garden and fishpond. He was a people person and was often seen chatting with his neighbors and many friends. In his younger years, Joe found much pleasure in coaching his sons' Little League and basketball teams. His love of sports continued later in life as he watched his grandsons in their various sporting activities. His children and grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Joe is survived by his wife, Catherine and two sons Charles and Christopher (wife Beth) of Marshfield. He was a beloved grandfather of Ryan Christopher and Brendan Richard Winn. Joe was preceded in death by his brother Robert Winn and sisters Marilyn Moran, Patricia Burbage and Judith Vaughn. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Margaret Skamarycz and Patricia Renehan and brother-in-law Edward Locke (wife Anne). He will be dearly missed by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Joe will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joe's life by gathering for calling hours at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. A reception to follow at the Ocean House Coastal Grill, 1899 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Winn and family,

We're so sorry for your loss. Mr. Joe was always such a pleasure to see on our daily walks in our neighborhood. We often remember seeing him tending to the fish pond and garden, or driving by our house and always waving to our children. He was one of the first people to welcome us into the neighborhood. We'll surely miss his warmth and friendly face. We wish you all of the best during this time. God bless you Mr. Joe.

With love,
The Sawyer Family
