Josephine Cunningham passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on October 15, 2025, at the Samaritan Inpatient Hospice in Mt. Holly, NJ. Born on February 27, 1949, in the picturesque island of Sicily, Josephine's life was a tapestry of dedication to her family, friends, and community.
Josephine was the cherished mother of the late Terence Cunningham, Jr. She was the beloved wife of Terence Cunningham, Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful journey of 54 years filled with mutual respect, laughter, and countless memories.
Her legacy continues through her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Yulia Cunningham, and her caring daughter and son-in-law, Marianne and Michael Smith. Josephine's joy was multiplied sevenfold by her adoring grandchildren, Gabriel, Anthony, Henry, Nathan, Asher, Lulu, and Tyler. She cherished every moment spent with them.
Josephine's home was an open door of hospitality, always filled with the aroma of her famous baked goods. She was a familiar face in the PTA Hot Lunch Program, where she volunteered alongside her friends, serving not just food but also kindness and support to the children and staff.
Her artistic spirit found expression in ceramics, a hobby that brought her immense joy and relaxation.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 3-4 PM, at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford, NJ.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Josephine Cunningham, please visit our floral store.
