Joshua D. Soden

On September 17, 2025, heaven gained a new angel. Joshua Soden, age 29, left this world far too soon. His infectious smile and warm bear hugs will be missed by many. Josh was born in Saratoga Springs on November 2, 1995, as the youngest of three sons to Michael and Kimberly Soden, currently of Port Charlotte, Florida.

Josh lived in Ballston Spa all his life, playing many sports, with soccer being his primary passion. He attended St. Mary's School, Ballston Spa and graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 2014. He also attended LeMoyne College in Syracuse.

Joshua worked at Bentley's Tavern in Malta for the last nine years, starting as a dishwasher, then a server, and for the majority of his time as a bartender. In the recent past, he was also a fitness instructor at the Saratoga YMCA.

Josh loved his customers and coworkers. He enjoyed being around others to provide a listening ear or bringing comfort with food and drinks. Josh loved playing and watching all sports. His favorite thing to do was hanging out with his Great Dane, Willow and playing video games. He also enjoyed working out at the Y when not at work.

In addition to his parents, Josh is survived by his brothers, Adam Soden of Ballston Spa and Aaron Soden of Lantana, Florida and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Mary Soden of Colonie and James and Diana Gardner of Saratoga Springs.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, September 26 from 4pm to 7pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High St, Ballston Spa. Funeral services will be held 10am Saturday, September 27, at the funeral home. A celebration of Josh's life will be held on Sunday, September 28, at the American Legion, 23 Pleasant St, Ballston Spa from 11am to 3pm.

We would also encourage everyone to consider becoming an organ donor. Josh chose to be an organ donor and has already changed the lives of many. Even in the darkest place, there can be light.
