JoyAnn K. Anderson
Age 80 of Horseheads, NY. She was born November 2, 1944 in Elmira, daughter of the late Valentine and Mary Kathryn (Sheehe) Ipri and passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Bampa's House. She is survived by her brother Richard Ipri of Elmira; former husband Martin Anderson of Dahlonaga, GA; brothers-in-law Edward Anderson and Francis Whitford; nephews David, Martin and Phillip Whitford; cousins Joan Osborne and Keith Douglass; dear friends Mary Yusko and Judy Rice. Joy graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1962 and St. Joseph's Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in 1964. In her career, Joy was employed with St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, Norfolk General Medical Center, Norfolk, VA; Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, from which she retired and Finger Lakes Orthopedics, Elmira. While at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Joy played a major role in the X-ray equipment design and purchase of the first dedicated Cardiac Cath Lab at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was a life member of the American Registry and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and was past president of the Southern Tier Society of Radiologic Technologists. A special thanks to the staff on 4B at Arnot Health and Bampa's House and Dr. Akila for the wonderful loving care they gave Joy. At Joy's request, there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to her Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 12th at 10 am in St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads. Rev. Christopher Linsler, Celebrant. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may remember JoyAnn through donations to Bampa's House, 170 E. 1st. St., Corning, NY 14830
