Joyce Aldred-Fine, age 89, of Whitehouse, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 14, 1936, in Wiltshire, England, Joyce was the daughter of the late Ronald and Margery (Gower) Carter. Her early life took her across the world-from her childhood years in Bombay, India (1946–1950), to Canada in 1957, and finally to the United States in 1964, where she made a lasting home and deep impact in her community.
Joyce married her beloved first husband, Donald Aldred, on October 8, 1955. The two shared a beautiful life together until his passing in 2004. In 2012, she found love again and married Bernard Fine, who survives her in Whitehouse, Ohio.
A devoted member of Hope United Methodist Church, Joyce served faithfully as the church secretary for over 20 years. Her dedication extended beyond her office work-she sang in the choir and joined multiple mission trips. Joyce was also a volunteer with meals on wheels and the Hope Clothing Closet. An active member of several church committees, including the United Methodist Women's association, Joyce's warmth, service, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Joyce had a vibrant personality and many passions. She found joy in gardening, loved to sing, and enjoyed staying active by playing tennis and ping-pong-a skill she honed during her time in India. She was known for her kindness, listening ear, wise advice and her unwavering faith.
Along with her loving husband Bernie, Joyce is survived by her children Lesley (Rod) Morris of Whitehouse, Ohio, Gerry Toepfer of Williamston, Michigan, step-children Steve (Margaret) Fine of Whitehouse, Ohio, Todd (Heather) Fine of Whitehouse, Ohio, Jodie (Dave) Van Sach of North Olmsted, Ohio, Kimberly (Chris) Dustin of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, grandchildren Rachel (Brian) Fetchik, Robert Mitchell, Natalie (Anthony) Kniss, Anthony Joseph "A.J." (Kayla) Toepfer, step-grandchildren Joseph Fine, Katrina (Bryan) Finedaniels, Kevin Dustin, Cameron Dustin, great-grandchildren William, Cruz, Cleo, step-great-grandchildren Charolette, Violet, Piper and Athena.
Joyce was preceded in death by her late husband Donald and son Peter Stewart Aldred.
A visitation for Joyce will be held on Monday September 8, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home located at 6603 Providence St. Whitehouse, Ohio 43571. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 9, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Hope United Methodist Church located at 10610 Waterville St. Whitehouse, Ohio 43571. Pastor Warren Clifton will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville, Ohio.
