Born on June 14, 1936, in Wiltshire, England, Joyce was the daughter of the late Ronald and Margery (Gower) Carter. A devoted member of Hope United Methodist Church, Joyce served faithfully as the church secretary for over 20 years. Her dedication extended beyond her office work-she sang in the choir and joined multiple mission trips. Joyce was also a volunteer with meals on wheels and the Hope Clothing Closet. An active member of several church committees, including the United Methodist Women's association, Joyce's warmth, service, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Joyce had a vibrant personality and many passions. She found joy in gardening, loved to sing, and enjoyed staying active by playing tennis and ping-pong-a skill she honed during her time in India. She was known for her kindness, listening ear, wise advice and her unwavering faith.
