A lover of golf, Joyce cherished playing the sport with her husband and friends. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was a cherished figure affectionately known as Nana, a name that carried with it a world of love and warmth..
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, John.
She is survived by her children, Ray A. Cookson (Lynne) of Bonaire, Georgia and Sheree L. Adkins (Steve) of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandchildren, Jonathan Cookson (Heather), Christie Cross and Eric Adkins; and six great-grandchildren.
