Joyce Marie (Ladien) Griffin, 98, Jefferson, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024 surrounded by her family. Gramma was born on December 9, 1926, the firstborn daughter of Emmanuel "Manny" and Laura Ladien. Gramma grew up with her sister, Betty, and had twin sisters who died in infancy.
As a child, Gramma attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School, then graduated from Jefferson High School in 1944. Gramma married our Grampa Ray Griffin on October 30, 1948. They were married 57 wonderful years until Grampa passed away in May of 2006. Together they raised their 3 children Karen, Mike and Patti. Through the years that Gramma worked, most memorably was The Band Box Cleaners which she and Grampa owned and the Jefferson County Abstract Office. Gramma was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson.
Gramma touched the lives of all that knew her. She had a heart of gold and was full of love. Her smile instantly lit up any room. We will miss her smile, laugh, and that mischievous sparkle in her eye combined with a perfect mixture of wit and sass. Gramma was so proud to be a grandma and with Grampa, they were especially supportive of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the best cheerleaders at countless ball games, activities, and performances throughout the years.
Gramma is survived by her daughter, Patti (Rod) Romens of Fort Atkinson and son, Mike (Barb) Griffin of Necedah. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brenda (Jerry Wendt) Noll, Dan Romens, Scott Griffin, David (Lana) Griffin and Kim Stebbins. She was proud of her great-grandchildren; Casey Noll, Brady Noll, Brady Wendt, Sydney (Michael) DeLeon, Paige Griffin, Konnor Griffin, Morgen Griffin, and Austin Stebbins. She is further survived by many other relatives, friends, and special grand-dogs, Jax and Chief.
Gramma was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ray; her daughter, Karen; her parents, Manny and Laura; step-mother Bernice Ladien; her twin sisters; brother-in-law Ray Miller; and many other family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Ridge Memory Care for the care, compassion, and love that they showed Gramma (Mama Joyce, to them) over the past two years.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts, donations in Gramma's memory can be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or the Jefferson Fire Department.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at 12:00PM on Friday, January 10, 2024 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, W4926 USH 18, Jefferson. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of mass. Burial will take place at St John Catholic Cemetery in Jefferson immediately following mass.
You lived a life full of love. You showed us all how to love and be loved, and we are who we are because of you. This isn't goodbye, but simply, see you later. Give Grampa the biggest hug for us and we'll see you someday. We love you with a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.

I met Joyce at Sunset Memory Care in Jefferson. She was such a lovely lady. She was mentally sharp with a fun bit of humor added. She is greatly missed by my Mother, myself and others at Sunset Ridge, along with all her family and friends. Rest in peace dear Joyce.
