Joyce S. Loson, 88, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at Sunset Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on April 30, 1936, in Lowville, NY, a daughter of the late Leo and Ruth (Benedict) Salmon and graduated from General Martins High School in Glenfield, NY. In 1956, Joyce was united in marriage to Donald F. Loson in Glenfield and shared a blessed union of 63 years until his passing on April 22, 2019. Joyce was employed as a crossing guard with Town of Webb School for over 30 years as well as co-owning the family business, Don's Polaris in Old Forge. She was a member of St. Bartholomew's Church, Daughter's of the American Revolution, and the North Woods Snow Travelers Club.
Joyce was a very loving wife and mother. She was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed making Barbie and American Girl Dolls clothing to give to children.
Surviving is her son, James "Jamie" Loson, Old Forge; very special sister-in-law, Jerry Salmon, Glenfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce's family wishes to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of Sunset Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for the exceptional care and compassion showed to her.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, November 6 from 6pm to 8pm at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 128 Fern Ave., Old Forge. Funeral services will be on Friday, November 7 at 11am from St. Bartholomew's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Internment will be in Old Glendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Joyce's name may be made to the Old Forge Volunteer Fire Dept. and Ambulance or St. Bartholomew's Church.
