Joyce Mutters

BLOOMINGTON – Joyce R. Mutters, 88, of Bloomington, formerly of Morton, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at Westminster Village (Martin Health Center) in Bloomington. She was born March 25, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Raymond and Wilhelmina (Helms) Toussaint. Joyce married Robert "Bob" Mutters on July 20, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2023. Joyce was also preceded in death by her son, Scott and brother, Warren Toussaint. Surviving are her children, Nancy (Steve) Smith and Richard (Kelly) Mutters, both of Bloomington; daughter-in-law, Deidre Mutters of Darien, Ill.; grandchildren, Ashton (Aaron), Zachary (Lauren), Danielle (Anthony), Jake, Kyle (Ruthie), Jessie (Ryan), Melissa and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Hailey, Skyler, Amelia, Carson, Harper and Aiden. Joyce was a crossing guard for Morton School District 709 for many years. She took great pride in protecting her students as they walked to and from school each day. Joyce and her husband wintered in Panama City Beach, Florida, where she enjoyed golfing in several leagues. Her greatest joy in life was being a doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joyce was a member of Morton Methodist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, with Pastor Adam Penn officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton. Memorials may be made to Martin Health Center in Bloomington.
