BLOOMINGTON – Robert W. “Bob” Mutters, 88, of Bloomington, formerly of Morton, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at Luther Oaks in Bloomington.
He was born on January 30, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisc., to William and Hannah (Larson) Mutters. Bob married Joyce Toussaint on July 20, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wisc.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Mutters of Bloomington; children, Nancy (Steve) Smith and Richard (Kelly) Mutters, both of Bloomington; daughter-in-law, Deidre Mutters of Darien, Ill. and sister, Carol Nuernberger of Oconomowoc, Wisc. He had eight grandchildren, Ashton (Aaron), Zach (Lauren), Danielle (Anthony), Jake, Kyle (Ruthie), Jessie (Ryan), Melissa and Matthew. As well as six great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Hailey, Skyler, Amelia, Carson and Harper.
Bob was preceded in death by his son, Scott; his brother, Carl and his sister, Pat.
He was a Korean War veteran.
Bob worked for Caterpillar for 33 years, retiring in 1997 as a Certified Managerial Accountant. He spent the last four years of his career working and living in Brussels, Belgium.
He was a member of Abbas Grotto East Peoria, Mohammed Shrine, Beer Can Collectors of America, and Morton Masonic Lodge.
Bob was a member of Morton United Methodist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, with Pastor Adam Penn officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
Memorials may be made to Morton United Methodist Church or Morton Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund in c/o Morton Masonic Lodge, 129 South Sampson Street, Tremont, IL 61568.
