Joyce O’Keefe, 77 of Tuckerton, NJ passed away on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Joyce was born in Newark, NJ, and raised her children in Colorado & Barnegat, NJ. In 2005, she moved to her current home located in Tuckerton, NJ. Joyce was employed by The Kokes Organization for 30 years, where she worked as their staff account. She was an avid reader and loved listening to music. She also enjoyed gardening, swimming, horses, word puzzles, traveling, and macrame. She relished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who she taught to play poker, bet on the horses, or save their money.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents William Curry and Bernice Knapp, her son William James O’Keefe III, her partner Stephen J Thayer, seven of her siblings, and her two sons-in-law Mark Gabrielli and Salvatore Cusimano.
She is survived by her loving children Michael O’Keefe of Little Egg Harbor, Tricia Gabrielli of Tuckerton, and Jackie Cusimano of West Creek, NJ, her sisters Edith Knapp-Steele and Penny Dennis, grandchildren Edward Stott Jr., Victoria Rossi, Elizabeth Stott, Paige O’Keefe, Salvatore Cusimano Jr., Michael O’Keefe Jr., Daniel O’Keefe and William O’Keefe, great-grandchildren Edward Stott, Carter Stott and Lane Rossi, and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was loved by many and will be remembered fondly. Her laugh was infectious, her smile was spirited, and her heart was kind. She was witty and wise, and extremely hard working. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 from 11 to 1 at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd. Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. A burial will take place at a later date for immediate family only.
