Juan Carlos Brenes, beloved Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, Friend, Chef, passed away into the arms of God on August 21, 2025.

Born July 2, 1968, in Limon, Costa Rica, to his loving parents Carlos and Jovita Brenes. Juan was a loyal son, with his every breath.

Juan spent his childhood in Dover, NJ. He made lifelong friends there. Juan had a magnetic personality and poured himself fully into those he cared for. This attribute is the reason he gained so many incredible friends throughout the world during his life- whose love he carried to the very end of his days.

Juan was maybe most well known for his time as a chef. This talent and career brought him to all corners of the US and into other countries. With accolades and titles too many to list, he was incredibly proud of his work.

Juan joined his father, Carlos Brenes, in heaven. Their reunion was undoubtedly filled with joy.

He is survived by his mother, Jovita Brenes. His sister, Lillian Brenes and sister in law, Lynda Cerino. His sister, Priscilla Brenes and his niece, Cassidy Recio, who he adored. Striving always to bring respect and honor to his family's legacy.

He added to that legacy in 2018 when he met his wife, Samantha. This love, cut much too short, began his journey to becoming a father and step father to 6 children- Jason, Mai, Elijah, Joshua, Carlos, and a new son due in November. All of whom he leaves behind.

Juan's funeral mass will be Friday August 29th at 10am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 326 College St, Middlebury VT for those who would like to attend. In accordance to Juan's wishes, there will be no gathering immediately afterwards.

Please no flowers. Donations can be made to the church or to Shoreham Recreation Program in Juan's honor.

Thank you.
