Juan Cruz, Jr., passed away on December 6, 2022, at the age of 90. Born to Joaquina and Juan Cruz, Sr. on August 4, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas.
Juan served four years in the United States Army during the Korean War achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant as a member of the 101st Airborne. After his release from the Army, he worked as an engineer for General Telephone Electric (GTE) for 30 years.
As a devout Catholic, Juan prayed the rosary daily. Everyone knew Juan as honorable, loving, generous, loyal, and handsome. He taught his family to believe in themselves and to stand for what they believed was right. And that they could do anything they wanted in life, if they worked hard and put all they had into their endeavors.
Juan loved his family, parents, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. He was a very patriotic man, loved his country and was incredibly proud of his service. He loved to argue his point on any matter and taught his children to do the same. Juan's children reflected on the times they would gather with their cousins and get in trouble. When one cousin got into trouble all the cousins got into trouble equally. Juan would always be the one to ensure they were properly disciplined.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents Joaquina and Juan Cruz, Sr., his sister Martha and brothers, Arthur and James. He is survived by his children; Cheryl Cruz, Cynthia Cruz, Catherine Cruz, Rick Marquez, Julie Lopez-Olmos, and Juan Jesus Cruz. His sister Jane Duron and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation hours will be held at Daniels Chapel of the Roses on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Daniels Chapel of the Roses. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 10:00 am.
