Juan Gonzales, age 82, closed his eyes on October 31st and went to rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord. Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and faithful child of God has gone to his eternal home.
A lifelong resident of Willard, New Mexico, and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Juan was deeply devoted to his faith and community. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lila D. Gonzales; daughters Margarita Gonzales and Alma Silva (husband Billy Silva); and Johnny Dale Martinez Jr., whom he lovingly raised as his son.
He leaves behind eight grandchildren —Mariah Garcia (husband Marcus Garcia), Natasha Martinez, Anthony Lopez, Monique Lopez, Christopher Cherry, Miles Cherry, Emily (husband Michael Garcia) — and his 5 cherished great-grandchildren.
Juan is also survived by his sisters Molly Archibeque and Arsenia Gallegos, brother Joe Gonzales (wife Bertha), and many nieces, nephews, and extended family — including great and great-great nieces and nephews — all of whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfredo and Casanita Gonzales; siblings Ramona Castillo and Victor Gonzales, Alfredo Jr., his beloved daughter Antionette Gonzales; and granddaughter Ashley Lopez.
Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m., Rosary at 10:30 a.m., and Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Willard, followed by burial and a reception.
Juan’s faith, kindness, and love for his family and community will forever live in our hearts. May he rest peacefully in God’s eternal care.
