Juan Lopez Jr., 85 years of age, was called home on Friday, September 19, 2025 in an Alice nursing home. He was born in Delmita, Texas on June 8, 1940 to his parents, Juan and Carlota Lopez. Juan attended school in San Isidro, Texas and was raised in Raymondville, Texas and moved to Freer, Texas in 1971 where he resided the rest of his life. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Juan enjoyed spending time traveling, listening to Tejano music, barbequing, fishing and being a good story teller and especially spending time with his grandchildren and his family. Juan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years of marriage, Olivia Lopez; his parents, Juan and Carlotta Lopez; brother, Salvador († Imelda) Lopez; sister, Ernestina († Delfino) Garcia.
Juan is survived by his two sons, Gilbert (Nora) Lopez of Alice, Texas; Max (Pat) Lopez of Odem, Texas; a daughter, Glenda (Fidel) Perez of Freer, Texas; one sister, Maria Angelita Villarreal († Guillermo) of Raymondville, Texas; seven grandchildren, Amanda (J.M.) Alegria, Alyssa (John) Ramirez, Jenna Lopez, Dustin (Desarea) Lopez, John (Katie) Lopez, Isaac Lopez, Ellanisa Ortiz (Jamison McGill); ten great grandchildren, Landon Matthew Alegria , Jace Martin Alegria, Ezra Mae Benavides, Gabriel Lopez, Michael Ryan Lopez, Lola Marie Lopez, Virginia Lorraine Lopez, Alaynnah Marie Lopez, Diesel Jhett Lopez, Demarkus J. Lopez; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freer, Texas. Interment will follow at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas.
