Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Juanita Zamudio Garcia born on February 5, 1929, in Durango, Mexico, has departed this world after 96 years of a life marked by resilience, faith, and unconditional love.
She was the devoted wife of the late Carlos Zamudio, and together they raised a large, beautiful family rooted in strength and tradition. Mother of 14 children, Esther Elena, Maria Vicenta, Josefa Emma, twins Jose† and Maria†, Jesus del Refugio†, Carlos Rafael, Maria de Lourdes, Maria Guadalupe, Juan Francisco, Arturo, Jose Manuel, Andres, Adrian Israel, 41 grandchildren, and an even greater number of great-grandchildren-each a living testament to her legacy of nurturing and perseverance. She is also survived by her sister, Amparo Rivera Garcia.
Lovingly known as Doña Juanita and Doña Juana, her life was not an easy one-marked by struggles and sacrifices-but she met every hardship with grace, courage, fortitude and unwavering faith. Her heart, mind and hands never idle, and her words always carried wisdom and comfort. A member of Mujeres Católicas en Acción in her hometown of San Lucas de Ocampo, Durango, for more than 60 years, Juanita was a woman of deep faith in the church and the power of prayer.
She loved being surrounded by her family more than anything in this world. She found joy in nature, especially birds and plants. She was also a masterful crocheter, creating intricate tablecloths, delicate blankets and dresses for her grandchildren and their dolls, each stitch a testament to her patience, skill, and boundless care.
Though her passing leaves an immense emptiness in our lives, we hold fast to the light she leaves behind. Her strength, her faith, and the fierce love she gave so freely will remain with us always.
Rest in peace, dear Doña Juanita. Your love lives on in every heartbeat of this family you built with such care. We will carry your memory with us, always.
