OGDENSBURG-Funeral services for Judith Ilene (Baker) Ashley, age 83, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Eel Weir. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frary Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Ogdensburg.
On July 13th, 2025, Judith I. Ashley, surrounded by loved ones, departed this world and was reunited with her beloved husband.
Judith was born on October 25th, 1941 in Utica, NY, to Maynard and Goldie (Foster) Baker. When she was four years old, they moved to Ogdensburg to reside at the family farm. She attended school in Ogdensburg and graduated in 1960.
On September 3rd, 1960, she married Clarence "Lincoln" Ashley. They lived on her family's farm and started a family. They had four children; A son, Maynard, and three daughters, Sandra, Stacie, and Sarah. When her children were young, Judy worked as a wife and mother. She babysat many neighborhood children. When her kids were grown, she went back to school and got a job with United Helpers as a Medication Certified Direct Support Professional. After retiring, her and Lincoln did some travelling with her niece and best friend, Eileen Perry. Judy and Lincoln had many happy years together until his death in 2016.
In her last few years, she resided in Ogdensburg and was cared for by her youngest daughter, Sarah. Judy did many things for her family. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She made scarves, hats, and mittens for her husband and children. She made blankets for all 10 of her grandchildren. They were called "Nonnie" blankets.
Judith is survived by her four children and ten grandchildren, Jessica Diamond, Arianne McCarthy, Matthew McCarthy, Adam McCarthy, Molly MacKay, Kristen Durand, David Bush, Brayden Demers, Tanner Delarge, and Adrian LaLonde. Eleven great-grandchildren, Talan, Jaycie, Rowan, Claire, Lincoln, Cohen, Noah, Bryce, Stella, Zeplynn, and David.
She is predeceased by her husband, Lincoln, her parents, and ten siblings. Her brothers, Dorland McEwen, John Stanley, Robert and Charles Baker; Her sisters, Ivah Trombley Polniak, Oleta Strader, Theresa Foster, Sylvia Empey, and Juanita Hanson. She was also predeceased by her niece and best friend, Eileen Perry.
Judy lived a long life and left an impression on many people. She had a lot of stories and funny sayings. We will miss you, Mom.
