Judith Rehr Dunning, 96, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, in her residence at Indian River Estates, Vero Beach, Florida.
Judy was born in Madison, Ohio and spent many of her younger years as a winter resident of Delray Beach.
She raised a family in Painesville Ohio, became a winter resident of Vero Beach in 1979 and a full-time resident in 2003, moving there from Ithaca, N.Y.
Judy was an avid and accomplished golfer, notably being the most decorated golfer in the history of Madison Country Club and winning championships in multiple states from Ohio to New York and Florida.
Judy was an active volunteer. She served as a vestry member of Saint James Episcopal Church, a Founding Member of the Western Reserve
Junior Service League, and President of the Parent Teachers Association of Painesville, Ohio. She was an active member of The Republican Party and served as a convention delegate. An avid gardener, Judy volunteered with Cornell Plantations to plant gardens around the Ithaca community.
Judy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. in 1950.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Dunning; her son and daughter-in-law John F. Dunning and Linda Hill; and her granddaughters Sara Clendenning, Jessica Dunning and Melissa Dunning.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Franklin Whittier Dunning, their son Bradley Paul Dunning and her brother Louis Sands Rehr.
She was the daughter of Paul and Louisa Rehr of Madison, Ohio.
