Judith (Robertson) McCory, age 87, of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 21, 1937, in Seymour, Judy was the daughter of Charles Roscoe and Rosalind Remley Robertson, both of whom preceded her in death.
Judy graduated from Brownstown High School in 1955 where she was heavily involved in extracurricular activities and was crowned Prom Queen her junior year.
She graduated from DePauw University on June 7, 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. On June 13, 1959, she married Lawrence D. (Larry) McCory in Brownstown who preceded her in death on January 21, 2010.
Following college graduation, Judy and Larry moved to Madison, Wisconsin. While Larry was pursuing his Masters in Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Judy worked in the University's Foreign Language Department translating documents between Portuguese and English.
In 1960, Judy & Larry moved to New Jersey where their 3 sons were born. Judy was a homemaker while Larry worked as a chemist.
In 1970, Judy & Larry moved to New Berlin, Wisconsin where they owned and operated a franchise retail store called the Plum Tree. The following year, they got an opportunity to move back to Brownstown, IN to be closer to family. Judy's youngest child and only daughter was born in 1976. While living in Brownstown she co-owned and operated both McCory's Gift Gallery and Tropical Sno.
After she and her husband retired, they attended The Crossing church in Columbus for many years. Playing the piano at both church and home brought her great joy. Judy had a deep love for Jesus and enjoyed attending Bible studies. She cherished her family – especially her grandchildren. She delighted in starting each day drinking sugar & cream with a dash of coffee.
