NORTH JACKSON - Judith A. McElhaney, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on September 22, 2025.
Born on April 22, 1943, in Alliance, Ohio, she was the daughter of Walter and Hazel Brewer Gibson.
Judith's journey began at Alliance High School, after which she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Mount Union College. Early in her career, she worked briefly as an elementary school teacher, embodying her commitment to nurturing young minds. However, it was her heartfelt decision to stay home to raise her children that truly defined her early years. As her children grew older, Judith returned to the workforce and contributed to the family business, McElhaney Equipment, where she helped in sales and was the full-time bookkeeper.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Judith was known for her vibrant interests and hobbies. As a longtime member of the Buckeye Trail Riders, she cherished the friendships formed over decades. Judith enjoyed collecting antiques and would always change her home décor inside and out as the seasons changed. She also enjoyed attending auctions and selling her finds at antique stores.
Judith's proudest accomplishments centered around her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald McElhaney, and their children, Julie McElhaney of Chardon and Trent (Liliana) McElhaney of Solon. She was deeply proud of her only grandson, Alexandru Allen McElhaney, whose achievements brought her immense joy. Judith also leaves behind her brother, Daniel (Janice) Gibson of Alliance.
Judith is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Gibson.
