Julia Elizabeth Fifer Hilbun passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2024, in Llano Texas surrounded by her family. She was born July 10, 1937, in Van Alstyne, Texas. Julia's smile, sparkling eyes and loving heart touched everyone she met.
Julia grew up in Van Alstyne, TX before moving with her family to Lubbock TX in 1950. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Wilson Fifer and Johnny Brock Fifer. She was sister to Ora May Botsford and her late husband Ray Botsford, brother Brock Fifer, late brother Lewis Fifer Jr. and late brother Richard Fifer. Julia was also loved by her nieces, nephews, and friends.
It was in Lubbock, Texas while attending Texas Tech University that she met the love of her life, Jerry Hilbun. They married in 1958 and Julia graduated with a degree in Math in 1959. At home, Julia was a loving wife to Jerry and a caring mother to their children, Jacquelyn Harper and her husband Tim, Joel Hilbun and his wife Jeannine. Her grandchildren, Chris Harper, Richard Harper, Kim Harper, Ashlee Pinson and her husband Jordan, and David Hilbun, along with grandchildren Abigail Tyler-Harper and Alex Harper, were her pride and joy.
Julia and Jerry always wanted to do things together and shared a beautiful journey enjoying their shared love of the outdoors and travel, their family, friends, and community. She loved being outdoors, fishing, sitting in the deer blind with Jerry, and traveling. She enjoyed learning about the history and culture of the places that she and Jerry visited.
From Lubbock they moved to Irving, Texas and later lived in Arlington, Texas before coming to Llano, Texas. She treasured the many friends made throughout the years and the new friends found in the Llano community, echoing one of her favorite Girl Scout songs "Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold."
Julia volunteered in several organizations. From children's programs such as Head Start and Logos, to the Women's Culture Club and the Llano Museum. She spent 24 years together with Jerry delivering Meals on Wheels meeting and greeting each and every person and adding a little sunshine to their lives. Julia was known for spreading joy and kindness and always made people feel appreciated and loved.
Though Julia is no longer with us, the love, light, and kindness she shared will always remain. She always said that everyone has a song within them to share. Julia sang her song well and we are thankful for being touched by those notes of kindness, laughter, joy, and most of all her love. May her legacy be that each of us find and sing our song well.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity or church.

My late husband and I had many happy and fun times with Julia and Jerry over many years all the way from Lubbock, TX to Llano and in between. I often share about the delicious cream puffs that Julia would make. A big high-light in a more recent year, was when Julia and Julia drove the 300 miles to attend my late husband and my Golden Wedding Anniversary. Julia's obituary is a wonderful tribute to her special legacy. May our Heavenly Father give comfort each day in all the years to come. With love, Dorothy Rogers

Julia was so sweet and so happy. She was also a big part of Lutie Watkins UMW. I will miss her sweet smile. JoAnn McDougall
