Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2 PM to 6 PM at The Anchorage Restaurant, 182 Canal Street, Eddyville, NY, a place that meant so much to Julie and all who loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 AM at Saint Catherine Laboure, with burial to follow at Montrepose Cemetery.

Julie Martin Swarthout, 66, of Eddyville, NY, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at her home with her family by her side under the care of Hospice.

Born on July 19, 1959, in Kingston, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Virginia "Ginger" (Fiore) Martin. Julie was a proud graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1977.

Julie was best known as the heart and soul of The Anchorage Restaurant in Eddyville, which she owned and operated from 1996 to 2025. Under her care, The Anchorage became more than just a restaurant, it was a home away from home for countless customers, a place where everyone felt like family. Julie poured her heart into every detail, and her warmth and hospitality touched all who walked through the doors.

When she wasn't at the restaurant, Julie enjoyed cooking, decorating, and making every holiday and family gathering unforgettable. She loved vacationing on the beach every year, soaking in the sunshine and creating beautiful memories with her loved ones. Most of all, she treasured being surrounded by family and friends and cherished every moment spent together. Her laughter, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her will never be forgotten.

Julie is survived by her loving husband, Kevin M. Swarthout; her children, James "Jake" Swarthout and Julianne Swarthout; her brother, James C. Martin and his wife Cay Beckwith-Martin; her brother-in-law, Michael Murray; and her adored nieces and nephews: Reid Martin and his wife Laurel Martin, Laura Hudson and her husband Shaymus, and Daniel Murray. She was also blessed with a great-niece, Leighton Grayce Martin, and a great-nephew, Ezra Hudson. She was predeceased by her sister, Gina Murray, and now they are reunited together in heaven.
