Julie Ann Taylor, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Jewish Hospital Downtown.
She was born in Louisville on July 18, 1956 to the late Willard Benjamin Rolfes and Dorothy Joan Celebrezze Rolfes Duckworth.
She was a 1974 graduate of Waggener High School, received her Bachelor's Degree from Murray State University, received her Master's Degree from University of Louisville, and worked as an academic counselor for the University of Louisville, having retired after 40 years. She was a member of Waddy Christian Church, Louisville Public Media, Sierra Club and KET. She loved to garden, bird watch and watch western movies.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her step father, Charles Duckworth; step sister, Anne Cleary; and brother-in-law, Jeff Cain.
She is survived by her loving son, Ben Taylor (Carolyn Fassio); sisters, Cathy Rolfes, Debbie Deuser (Phil), Cheri Hayden (Mark), and Angela Cain; brother, Bill Rolfes (Betty); nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other loving family members and friends.
Her memorial visitation will be held from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home 3800 Bardstown Road with a memorial service to begin at 5 p.m.
Cremation was chosen. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
