June Yvonne (Metzger) Lundvall, 84, of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, went home with her Savior to heaven on January 2, 2024. She was born March 9, 1939, in Saginaw, Michigan, to John Metzger and Alma Sarah (Blower) Metzger. June grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, where she attended Durand Elementary School, South Intermediate Junior High School and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw in 1957. She attended Michigan State University in the fall of 1957 where she met Donald Alvin Lundvall, marrying him on September 10, 1960. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in business education. June was a teacher and homemaker and together with Don, operated the family farm in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, from 1976 through the present. June was most recently a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Red Wing. She was also a member of the English Lutheran Church, Jolly Mixers Homemaker's group, and Thurston Hill Goodwill Club for many years. Her heart was called to plant seeds of God's love by teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for decades. She was a devout Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family, birdwatching, gardening, and campfires. She also loved taking car trips up to Duluth, visiting Glensheen Mansion, and climbing the Split Rock Lighthouse. Driving along Lake Superior's MN and WI beautiful coastlines was a joy.
June is survived by three children, Julia (Steve) Hager, Apple Valley, MN, Jeanne (Mark) Scharf, Madison Lake, MN, and Judy (Joseph) Nunn of Farmington, MN; four grandchildren, Alexander, Brooke and Cameron Hager, and Jaeden Nunn; one great-grandchild, Liliana (Cameron Hager); one sister, Norma (Raynold) Schmick of Dearborn, MI; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. June was preceded in death by husband, Donald Alvin Lundvall, her father and mother, John and Alma Sarah (Blower) Metzger; brother, John Frank (Lois) Metzger; and infant sister, Rita Jean Metzger.
Services for June will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home: 130 N Grant St. Ellsworth, WI 54011, beginning with a visitation from 2:00-4:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Todd Engel. A private burial will take place at Fort Snelling Cemetery in St. Paul, MN at a future date.
