June F. Mitchell (nee Murphy), age 76 years of Avon, died Monday,
March 31, 2025 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake, Ohio. June was born in
Cleveland, Ohio on May 1, 1948. She grew up in Avon, Ohio, and met her husband,
Tomer, when they were freshmen in High school. They graduated from Avon High School
in 1966, and she went on to attend Lorain County Community College. June and Tomer
were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Avon in 1967, and went on to enjoy 57 years
of marriage and raising their family. Amongst her greatest joys in life were sons,
daughters-in-law, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. June was affectionately
known by her family as GOTY (Grandmother Of The Year), and she spent an entire week
each summer taking her grandchildren on fun adventures when they were young.
June spent 35 years working at Avon City Hall, where she retired as Assistant Finance Director
in 2013. Tomer and June were avid boaters and campers, and the whole family enjoyed many
fun trips together. Everyone remember her beautiful smile.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas "Tomer" Mitchell,
sons Thomas (Angela) Mitchell II and Scott (Kristin) Mitchell,
grandchildren Payton, Taylor, Grant, Zackary, Alyssa and Cole,
great-grandchildren Nora June and Warren, sister Nancy Stafford and
brother Tim (Deanna) Murphy. She was preceded in death
by her infant son Raymond Douglas Mitchell, parents

It is with great sadness to learn of June's passing. My heart is heavy with the sadness in the loss of such a lovely lady. I went to high school with June (and Tomer). June never changed. She was always 100% wonderful, kind, caring and above all, GENUINE! She set an example for all of us. Everyone, and I mean everyone who's heart she touched, should take a page out of her "Journal of Life", and live by it. I hope her family will live on for her, and reflect upon all their wonderful memories she made for them. May God bring peace and comfort during this difficult time. I end with a beautiful poem by a French-American Quaker missionary:

"I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
