Obituary of Justin E. Shvetz
Justin E. Shvetz, 40, of Vernon passed away unexpectedly in February of 2024. He was predeceased by his parents, Janet I. Kuszai and Mark N. Shvetz. He is survived by his brothers, David Shvetz and his wife Julie Shvetz of East Hampton, CT and Todd Shvetz and his wife Dana Saccomano of Vernon, CT, as well as his niece Meadow and nephews Dawson, Harrison, and Jude. He also leaves behind his Aunt, Susan Pedersen and her partner Jim Petrizzo of Ivoryton, CT; his Godmother, Mary Bliss of Wethersfield, CT; his Aunt and Uncle, Ada and Robert Thistle of Greenville RI; and his cousins Kiersten Pedersen of Austin, TX; Heather Thistle Herring and husband Gregory Herring of Cumberland, RI; Daniel Thistle of Chepachet, RI; and Richard Kowalsky and his fiancée Jen Mandel of Colchester, CT. For those that knew and loved him, his sudden departure will leave a lasting void. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Justin's fun-loving and optimistic attitude was a defining feature of his personality. He loved spending time with family and friends and was always entertaining to be around. As a brother, Justin was generous, loyal and considerate. Justin loved being an uncle. He would boast about his niece and nephews, and they absolutely adored him. He often shared his extensive knowledge of legos, video games and movies with them. Throughout his life, Justin was an avid animal lover. His two most beloved pets being his cats, Wilson and Izzy. His fondness for animals began at a young age with his childhood dog Patch.
Justin's vast knowledge of technology led him into the field of Information Technology. If a family member or friend needed help with their computer or other electronics, he was the first one they called. Justin's good-natured personality made him a joy to work with. He developed lasting relationships with coworkers throughout his career.
Justin was a huge fan of science fiction books and movies. He owned countless collectibles, and was always ready to share the stories behind them. His most treasured possessions included items from Star Trek, Star Wars, and rare comics. Justin was a proudly self-proclaimed "Trekkie." He was the resident expert on these topics and could recall the most obscure facts from the movies and shows that he loved throughout his life.
Some of Justin's fondest memories were of trips he took with his parents, grandparents, cousins, and brothers during his childhood. Vacation destinations included Hershey Park, Las Vegas, Disney World, Niagara Falls and even a dude ranch in Arizona. He often spoke of the unforgettable summer long cross-country trip in his grandparent's RV. These memories were dear to his heart. In recent years, Justin traveled to Iceland and enjoyed exploring the filming grounds of one of his favorite TV shows, Game of Thrones.
Justin's life was tragically cut short. His kindness and gentle spirit will be remembered dearly by all who knew him. Calling hours for Justin will be held on Friday March 29, 2024 from 1-3pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury CT 06033.
