A Mass of Christian Burial for Karen Ann Gaumer, 70, of Newark, will be held at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 10, 2024, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
A parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Karen died at Embassy of Newark on Thursday, December 5, 2024. She was born in Newark, Ohio on January 5, 1954, to the late Leo Raymond and Sylvia S. (Otto) Mallonee.
Karen was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary, Newark Catholic High School (1972), and received her Bachelor in Education from The Ohio State University Newark. She worked for many years as a tutor at Blessed Sacrament and St. Francis de Sales Elementary Schools.
She was an avid crafter and especially enjoyed needlework, cross-stitch, and crocheting blankets.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 48 years, Jeff Gaumer; son, Eric P. Gaumer; sister-in-law, Virgene Mallonee; her dear cousin whom she grew up with, Christine Wirick; best friends, Debby and Dave Shelley; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael P. Mallonee and William F. (Elizabeth) Mallonee.
Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M, Monday, December 9, 2024, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Karen's name can be made to Blessed Sacrament Elementary School.
