A Mass of Christian Burial for Walter R. Wolfe, 83, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 19, 2024, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery where Walter will be laid to rest with the cremains of his wife, Sue, and son, Thad. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Walter, a United States Army and National Guard Veteran, passed away at his home on Friday, December 13, 2024. He was born in Manhattan, New York on January 16, 1941, to the late Howard H. and Margaret (Hunt) Wolfe.
A 1959 graduate of Newark Catholic High School, Walter completed multiple trade courses at COTC. He maintained several rental properties and worked for many years in maintenance at Coca-Cola and retired from Boehringer-Ingelheim and the Newark Air Force Base. He was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church and also a former Scout Master for Troop 8, St. Francis de Sales.
Walter will be greatly missed by his children, Michael Wolfe (Georganna Acord), Heather Wolfe (Rick Lake), and Nicholas Wolfe; 6 grandchildren, Justin, Waylon, Taylor (Josh) Amore, Brandon, Morgann, and Katelyn; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Loralei, and Haizel Sue; brother, John Wolfe; sister-in-law, Kerrin Biddle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Sue (Biddle) Wolfe; son, Thaddeus "Thad" Wolfe; sister-in-law, Sallie Wolfe; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George A. Biddle, and Angela (William) Miller.
Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 5-7 P.M., Wednesday, December 18, 2024, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M.
