Karen Lee Koerber, age 61 of Berkley, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born April 3, 1961 in Detroit to Leonard and the late Peggy Miller.
A lifelong resident of Berkley and 1979 graduate of Berkley High School, Karen was a staple of the city. She owned and operated Farina's Banquet Center for over 20 years and participated in numerous community projects throughout her life. She helped organize and run the concession stand for the Berkley Merchant's Field and truly enjoyed serving her community. She loved to golf. She also liked travelling the world, reading, and solving puzzles. But most of all, she was a loving wife, beloved mother, devoted Nana, caring sister, cherished daughter, and a steadfast friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of almost 24 years, John, whom she married July 25, 1998 in Royal Oak; her daughters, Brooke (Shawn) Todoroff, Ashley (Stefan Lindgren) Holman, and McKenna (Ron) Dollete; father, Leonard Miller; siblings, Daniel (Elaine) Miller, John (Karen) Miller, and Richard (Janine) Miller; grandchildren, Parker, Oscar, Emmi, and Alexandra; and canine children, Henry and Gracie.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 12 Mile Road, Berkley (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue). Mrs. Koerber will lie in state Monday, May 2 from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass 11:00 AM at Our Lady of La Salette Catholic Church, 2600 Harvard Road, Berkley (1/4 Mile north of 11 Mile Road). I´m trying to concentrate on the memories and funny times we had together but it´s difficult I have so much sympathy for those grieving and missing her We had quite the history going back 30+ years as the "hazelnuts" and those times together raising our girls is priceless and will always be remembered We lost touch in the past few years as our lives continued in different directions but certainly I always loved her To her family - especially the girls who I saw raised from infants - I can´t begin to tell you how sorrowful I am for you I hope someday soon we can reconnect Please come to me if you need anything - even just a hug I had plenty of those for you as a child My door is still always open for you Love and sympathy to all Gail

So sorry to hear that such a vibrant & loving woman is gone so soon. The last time we saw her she was so excited to see her cousins Dave & Scott McKenzie! They talked about golfing together. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, thinking of you with love.
